Global temperature record has similar trend as the CET variability, but with less prominent oscillations due to the world-wide averaging.

Multi-decadal variability function is a simple equation directly derived from the CET's three most prominent components with periods of less than 100 years. The function is directly added to the CET 350 year long trend of 0.250 C/ century extended to the length of the extrapolation, which could be assumed to be recovery from the Little Ice Age. Despite the permanent underlining up-trend, there is a natural drop starting in 2006.
